Last week, the Trump-Pence administration released their new gag rule. This rule will dramatically curtail access to reproductive health care across the country — by taking direct aim at the nation’s birth control and reproductive health care program, Title X. This proposed rule is harmful, unethical, and deeply unpopular.

Specifically, the gag rule does three primary things:

1. Makes it illegal for doctors, nurses, hospitals, and community health centers across the country that participate in the Title X program to refer their patients for safe, legal abortion.

2. Imposes new restrictions designed to make it impossible for patients to get birth control or preventive care from reproductive health care providers like Planned Parenthood.

3. Removes the guarantee that people are getting full and accurate information about their health care from their doctors. For nearly two decades, Title X law has been clear: Health care providers cannot withhold information from you about your pregnancy options. This rule means that they can.

Planned Parenthood supporters, patients, health care providers, and coalition partners will descend to the Supreme Court of Ohio on May 30 at 12noon for a large rally condemning Trump’s newly announced gag rule. This dangerous policy radically changes health care in the country by taking direct aim at the nation’s birth control and reproductive health care program, Title X. The rally will include a speaker line-up where you will hear from people who rely on essential reproductive health care accessed at Planned Parenthood health centers.
