Friday, July 9, 6-9pm, Wild Goose Creative [now in their new location], 188 McDowell St.

We’re thrilled to open our doors in the Franklinton Arts District!Join us during “Franklinton Fridays” to see our new space and to celebrate the start of our new future at 188 McDowell St.

Our opening reception will feature the work of artists Dana Lynn Harper and Lucie Shearer in a show entitled “halfway here.”

More About “halfway here”

Coming out of the COVID era, a time of not only isolation but death, artists Dana Lynn Harper and Lucie Shearer explore transformation, connection, and escapism through the duo exhibition “halfway here.”

During quarantine, many of us relied on our minds and imagination to transport us out of our physical surroundings. Using symbols like portals and eyes, “halfway here” touches on the desire to be somewhere else, to transport, and to connect to a new place.

Subjects are caught in a state of change, shifting in color, or dividing into layers and pieces. Harper’s abstract vinyl work explores the visualization of the human spirit through gradients and iridescent color. Shearer illustrates the inner workings of her figures as they leave and expand beyond their physical form. Using pattern, bold lines, and repetition, both artists explore who we are beyond the physical body.
