Indivisible of Springfield will have a Peace Walk for the next National Day of Action as inspired by the venerable monks 2,300 mile walk they are doing from Fort Worth, Texas to Washington DC in 120 days. This will be held on January 20th from 2-5 PM with stops along the way primarily focusing on immigrant/minority owned small businesses because they need our support and love more than ever right now. This will be a total of 5 miles and you can walk the entire journey, or pick up and end where you choose.

If you have mobility issues, can’t stand the cold, or are not a fan of walking in general, you can still participate. It would be great to have some volunteers who would like to drive and have chairs for those who need to sit at the stops, and to carry items that may be purchased by the walkers at the various stop locations. Those are listed below. This will not be a walk with chants, political signs, or yelling at cars as they go by. The political aspect to this is the walk itself. We will have a few folks in front that have signs explaining what we are doing such as one sign stating Peace, another stating Kindness, and another stating Unity.

Start at La Michoacana Mexican Market, 2125 Park Road. Walk one mile east on West Main St.

First Stop - La Condesa Grocery Store, 915 W. Main St. Continue walking East for another mile.

Second Stop - National Road Commons Park at 50 W. Main St. where we can get a photo op with the Madonna statue. Two blocks away is Casa Centro and La Fiesta Mexican Restaurant for a warmer stop as needed.

Third stop - TBD. Continue onto E. Main St. for another mile or so.

Fourth Stop - Continue down East Main St. and turn right on Belmont Street, then hook left to go down High Street to St. Vincent de Paul Society, 228 Raffensperger Ave. This is a longer route, about 1.2 miles.

Fifth Stop - Continue down E. High St, turn right on S Burnett Road to end at Taqueria La Condesa, 548 S. Burnett Rd. We can have dinner together there for all who can stay.
