Thursday, November 21, 7:30-10pm, Wild Goose Creative, 2491 Summit St.

Come on out to The Queer Community Mic on Thursday, November 21. Bring your poetry, music, comedy, stories, dance routines — basically anything you can do on stage that’s safe and legal. Doors open at 7:30pm; show begins at 8pm. Pay what you can at the door to show your support for the show (a $5 donation is suggested but is not required). As always, if you want to sign up to perform, we recommend arriving on time.

This month, our featured act is Ruth Awad! Ruth Awad is the Lebanese-American author of Set to Music a Wildfire (Southern Indiana Review Press, 2017), which won the 2016 Michael Waters Poetry Prize and the 2018 Ohioana Book Award for Poetry. She received the 2016 Ohio Arts Council Individual Excellence Award and won the 2013 and 2012 Dorothy Sargent Rosenberg Poetry Prize and the 2011 Copper Nickel Poetry Contest. Her work appears in Poetry, Poem-a-Day, The Believer, The New Republic, and elsewhere.

Per Ruth’s request, half of the proceeds made at the door will be donated to TransOhio: an organization which serves the Ohio transgender and ally communities by providing services, education, support, and advocacy, which promotes and improves the health, safety and life experience of the Ohio transgender individual and community. So come out, donate generously, and support a great cause!

Hosted by The Queer Community Mic and Wild Goose Creative.
