Saturday, March 2, 10am-12noon, Delaware Main Library, 84 E. Winter St., Delaware, Ohio

Fracking under Ohio state parks and public lands will be discussed Saturday, March 2, from 10am to 12noon, during the Sustainable Delaware [Ohio] meeting in the Delaware Main Library’s community room.

Save Ohio Parks steering committee members Jenny Morgan and Cathy Cowan Becker will talk about the statewide, all-volunteer group that is concerned about oil and gas fracking for the environmental and health harms, as well as show Morgan’s new animated video, “Stand Up.”

Morgan, a singer, songwriter and environmental and public health advocate, is dedicated to getting every child outside in nature. She created “Stand Up,” a 20-minute, animated music video, to educate Ohio families about a new law that requires fracking under Ohio’s pristine public lands.

The video features Mama Deer, a turtle, and a duckling, who teach small children and their parents how to save Ohio state parks from industrial fracking.

“In the song, the forest animals of Salt Fork State Park sing to rally humans to take part in spontaneous, self-directed demonstrations whenever they visit a local, city or state park,” said Morgan. “The animals ask the humans to keep standing up until Ohio leaders stop drilling under our parks and pass a law to protect our parks and public lands forever.”

Morgan will also address fracking accidents reported by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources and the radioactivity that those accidents release into our air and water, and Cowan Becker will talk about Save Ohio Parks’ work to prevent fracking under our state parks and public lands and how Ohio citizens can get involved.

Admission is free. The library is located at 84 E. Winter St. in Delaware, Ohio.
