The Self-Preservation and Community Care Workshop is intended to help new-to-activism folks understand their relationship to power and privilege and how leveraging privilege(s) is both self-care and community care. The workshop is based on a psychotherapy consciousness-building skills model created by Leticia Nieto. This is a two part workshop. In the first part the facilitator will walk participants through the survival and thrivance skills built for targets of oppression and for people who benefit from power. The second part of the workshop will be dedicated to discussing the various ways that someone can support progressive social change. This intended to be a self-reflective workshop with opportunities to share in small groups and the large group. Please come with an open mind and an open heart. Event is free and space limited to 45 participants, please RSVP.

The facilitator, FR is a full-time scholar and researcher with over two decades of teaching, activism and organizing experience.
