Tuesday, September 7 to Sunday, September 12, this on-line event requires advance registration

“20 Years Later” is a virtual film festival commemorating the 20th anniversary of September 11, centering on the theme of peace and justice. Featuring films across 20 years, including brand-new releases, each film is paired with a live panel discussion that will feature producers, directors, 9/11 family members, and/or subjects of each film, and will be open to audience questions.

This festival is run by September Eleventh Families for Peaceful Tomorrows, a nonprofit organized by relatives of the victims of the September 11 attacks.

In Our Son’s Name [September 7-12]

A portrait of Phyllis and Orlando Rodriguez, whose son, Greg, died on September 11, 2001. The bereaved parents choose reconciliation and nonviolence over vengeance. A live panel on September 9 will feature the maker and subjects of this film.

No Responders Left Behind [September 7-8]

This film follows 9/11 social activists Jon Stewart and John Foal as they take on the U.S. government to ensure health and compensation for thousands of ailing First Responders dying from Ground Zero toxins. A live panel on September 7 will feature the director and a subject of this film.

We Are Many [September 7-9]

This fearless, thought-provoking documentary details the remarkable story behind the first-ever global demonstration in protest of the Iraq War, featuring organizers, activists, celebrities, and politicians. A live panel on September 8 will feature a discussion with the director of this film.

The Mauritanian [September 10-12]

Mohamedou Ould Slahi fought for freedom after being detained and imprisoned without charge by the U.S. government for years. A live panel on September 10 will feature a discussion and question-and-answer with former Guantanamo inmate Mohamedou Slahi and 9/11 families.

The Outsider [September 10-12]

A film following the Creative Director of the National 9/11 Memorial and Museum as he confronts a narrow and simplistic narrative of 9/11. A live panel on September 10 will feature a discussion with the co-directors of this film and a 9/11 family member.

Finding Our Voices [September 11-12]

This movie highlights the passion and determination of American citizens who sacrifice their jobs and their retirement and risk imprisonment in their democratic dissent of the Iraq war. A live panel on September 12 will feature a discussion with the production team for this film.
