Sunday, January 26, 12noon, Studio 35 Cinema & Draft House, 3055 Indianola Ave.

We’re kicking off 2025 with a fantastic, award-winning documentary. Our hosts once again are Studio 35. Don’t miss this exciting feature — we’re fairly certain this is its first public showing in Columbus, if not Ohio. We hope to see you there!

We’re pleased to share that Jeffrey Wilson, president of Friends of Serpent Mound, will be a distinguished speaker for the Q&A following the screening this Sunday. We look forward to the valuable insights he will provide and are thankful for his participation.

As always, your support allows us to keep bringing you educational and enriching events promoting environmental responsibility and action, like this one.

Synopsis below:

Experience the thrill of this award-winning film, an exciting journey that takes us to the heart of the Brazilian Amazon and the fight to protect it. “We Are Guardians” follows Indigenous forest guardian Marçal Guajajara and Indigenous leader Puyr Tembé as they risk their lives to defend their ancestral lands from relentless invasions and deforestation. On the other side, Valdir, an illegal logger, is trapped in a desperate struggle to make ends meet and sees no other way than continuing to cut down the forest. Directed by Indigenous activist and filmmaker Edivan Guajajara and Southern Oregon local environmental filmmakers Chelsea Greene and Rob Grobman, and executive produced by Academy Award winner Leonardo DiCaprio, the film has already garnered huge adulations at its festival premieres worldwide and is a story of hope and resilience amidst an unfolding crisis.

Tickets: $8.00 [general admission].
