Sunday, May 5 [opening reception], 12noon-3pm, (not) sheep art gallery, 17 W. Russell St.
Beginning on May 4, we will present a one-person show of Sue Cavanaugh’s new work, entitled “Real People Don’t Eat Other People.”
This exhibit will be a protest of the 2010 landmark “corporate personhood” U.S. Supreme Court decision, Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission.
We’ll bring back “Conjoined Partnership” and will add six new sculptures created from iconic white shirts. Included will be “Corporate Takeover: Real People Don’t Eat Other People.” There will be limited-edition relief prints inspired by her book of cartoons, “A Corporation Is a Person Like the Emperor’s New Clothes Were Real,” a painting, “Not a Corporation (nor a person),” in which she appropriates Magritte’s “Son of Man,” and more.
This exhibit will continue until Friday, May 31.
