Don't miss CELDF'S Max Wilbert presentation being hosted by Scientists Rebellion. His talk, titled “Technological Somnambulism and the Failure of the Scientific Imagination,” will explore how academic and scientific communities, especially in the global north, have defaulted to using the same types of tools and methods — especially top-down management and technological change — that created the ecological crisis in modern attempts to solve it. Instead of continuing these failures, he asks how we can “hospice modernity” and resurrect a real future in the ashes of the old.

The Buen Vivir campaign  includes a monthly series of talks on global social and climate justice. “Buen Vivir” or “good living” is an Indigenous Quechua concept also known as Sumak Kawsay, life lived in harmony with nature and community.

Max Wilbert is a community organizer, wilderness guide, and co-founder of the anti-mining group Protect Thacker Pass. He has a Masters in Degrowth, and currently works with the Community Environmental Legal Defense Fund. Max is co-author of the book Bright Green Lies: How The Environmental Movement Lost Its Way and What We Can Do About It, and writes a newsletter on Substack called Biocentric.
