Sunday, October 13, 4-6pm, Mount Hermon Missionary Baptist Church, 2283 Sunbury Rd.
Following a morning of “Journey of Hope” speakers speaking in communities of faith throughout Central Ohio, the community is invited to gather to pray and hear more inspiring “Voices of Experience” on the death penalty. Rev. Dr. Jack Sullivan Jr. will present the keynote address, sending “Journey of Hope” speakers off for a week of events throughout the State of Ohio.
The Ohio “Journey of Hope” is led by murder victim family members sharing their stories of healing, reconciliation, and forgiveness, and how the death penalty does not serve the needs of homicide survivors. The Ohio “Journey of Hope” offers “voices of experience” who can put a real face on the death penalty because they have lived some aspect of it. Speakers include murder victim family members, the families of the executed and those on death row, exonerated death row survivors, legal experts, and even retired corrections officials who have carried out executions and who now oppose the death penalty. Schools, faith communities, and civic groups wishing to host a “Journey of Hope” speaker and foster this conversation locally are invited to make a request via the speaker request form at journeyofhope.org/ohio-journey/.
Details, tickets/registration, and confirmed public events will be regularly updated at journeyofhope.org/ohio-journey/.
Hosted by Journey of Hope . . . From Violence to Healing, Faith in Public Life, Ohioans to Stop Executions, Starvin’ for Justice: Fast and Vigil, Ohio Council of Churches, and Death Penalty Action.
