Saturday, July 6, 9am-1pm, beginning and ending at Whetstone Park of Roses Shelter House, 3901 N. High St.
Imagine a world where you or a loved one must walk miles every day to find a source of water to quench your family’s thirst or cook a meal. This is the reality for millions of Zimbabweans.
Now imagine that the only pool of water you come across is germ-laden and full of animal and human feces, garbage, and other pollutants.
Could you drink that water, cook with it, bathe a newborn baby, or soothe your thirsty, crying child? Probably not.
You can make a difference though, and even help save lives, by walking in the Rosshirt Water for Africa Foundation’s first annual Walk With Water For Africa 5K.
Join us for a walk unlike any other.
Participants can walk the 5K [3 mile] distance empty-handed. They can also choose to carry a 5-gallon bucket (or jerrycan), empty or filled with water, to personally experience this challenging trek made every day by countless Zimbabweans.
Walk on your own, with family, or create a team. Collect pledges or get sponsors. Registration fee is $20 per person.
