Friday, May 29, 7-8:30pm, this on-line event requires advance registration

Join us on Friday, May 29 at 7pm for a virtual townhall on organizing against unsafe conditions for workers, and the mishandling of the COVID-19 pandemic!

Coronavirus has shown itself to have extremely far reaching, dangerous consequences for both people at work and at home. As Ohio begins to open back up, people rightly are concerned. Workers face dangerous risks on the job and have every right to demand safe conditions.

Already, there are reports among essential workers of a lack of PPE [Personal Protective Equipment], little to no social distancing measures being enforced, and a general lack of hazard pay. On top of this, Ohioans face evictions and foreclosures due to an inability to pay their rent or mortgages.

Socialist Alternative believes that the struggles that workers face are no accident but are a result of a failing economic system of capitalism. The Columbus and Cincinnati branches of Socialist Alternative are holding this joint town hall to discuss the best ways to organize around the conditions that workers face today. We need to build the biggest possible coordinated opposition to the mishandling of the crisis in every way. We demand the following.

• Hazard pay for workers!

• Forgive all mortgage and rent payments!

• PPE [Personal Protective Equipment] for all workers!

• No utility shut offs!

• Allow workers to democratically decide when it is safe to go back to work!

Hosted by Columbus Socialist Alternative and Cincinnati Socialist Alternative.
