Democrats in the White House and Senate have the power until January 20th to take strong action on the ever-deepening climate crisis. They need to use that power!
Even after Trump takes office Democrats in both the House and the Senate will have the power to put up fierce resistance to Trump and MAGA's plans to severely set back the (too slow) progress that was made over the last four years to shift away from dirty fossil fuels to clean renewable energy. They can speak out loudly and clearly against those regressive plans. They can mobilize their constituents to bring political pressure to bear. They can issue strong statements and speak out through the mass media. They can use the 60-vote rule in the Senate for non-budget legislation. They can filibuster, days-long, multi-speaker filibusters! They can use all the tools available to put roadblocks in the way of the plans to strengthen the power of the polluting fossil fuelers as well as on many other important issues.
Sign our petition and we will deliver it next Thursday, November 21, to the White House, Senate and House Democratic leadership calling upon them to resolve on this course of action going forward!

Sponsored by Beyond Extreme Energy
Beyond Extreme Energy is an activist network of organizations and individuals that came together in the summer of 2014 to organize a successful, week-long nonviolent direct action campaign at the Washington, D.C., offices of FERC, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and elsewhere, particularly near the proposed Cove Point LNG export terminal.
We take action to raise public awareness of the disastrous impacts of fracking, proposed gas exports and other extreme energy extraction practices.
Toward these ends, BXE has identified the following priorities
- Supporting important local frontline struggles against fracking, including drilling, pipelines, compressor stations, storage and export terminals, as well as other extreme energy expansion projects. We are particularly focused on efforts underway at Cove Point, Maryland, Seneca Lake, New York, and a large number of proposed new fracking pipelines from New England to Florida;
- Reaching out to and developing healthy working relationships with other groups working on extreme energy extraction, students and young people, the Black Lives Matter movement, organizing efforts in communities of color, campaigns of low-paid workers and environmentally-conscious labor unions;
- Organizing major weeks of action in Washington, DC, focused on FERC but also including other opportunities for effective, nonviolent direct action;
- Working with a developing coalition of groups that support nonviolent direct action demanding strong climate action, including at the United Nations and here in the U.S.
The energy and resources to carry out this work will come from the network of scores of organizations and many individuals who have created and built Beyond Extreme Energy and those who will join us going forward. Through respectful discussion, democratic decision-making, hard work and creative, committed action, we know that we can win.
