We start with our great poet Laureate MIMI GERMAN & her usual mystic verse.

From Waldport, Oregon, we hear from ousted & now re-instated MAYOR HEIDI LAMBERT about her incredible saga on the way to remaking this pivotal spot in the American MAGA/saga.

This far-and-wide astonishing attack on democracy by the MAGA Klan is dissected by co-host MIKE HERSH.

Tough questions come from SCOTT KLATT who wants to know why Heide let herself get drafted for Mayor.

From the LAProgressive.com we are updated by SHARON KYLE & DICK PRICE on the national assault on the Judiciary & our democratic elections.

Then the great MYLA RESON narrates the amazingly absurd arrest of Newark, New Jersey Mayor Ras Baraka & three US Congresspeople for attempting to inspect a prison facility under their jurisdiction.

The attack on Mayor Baraka is mourned by DANIELA, who warns us all to carry our birth certificates.

Computer pioneer LEE FELSENSTEIN elaborates on his suggestion that rally organizers use business cards with QR codes, printed in special colors, with colored ink & union labels, feeding into local-generated websites.

Women being interviewed

“I was so scared. I didn’t know if I was going to make it to the next day,” recalled Luz Drada, an advocate and program coordinator with Moms Clean Air Force, recounting the harrowing experience of her high-risk pregnancy at Maternal and Child Health in a Dangerous Climate, a forum held in Washington, DC, exploring the intersections of global warming, air pollution, and maternal health disparities.

Child's will

Since the blockade began, humanitarian organizations like UNICEF have warned that children are at an increasing risk of starvation, illness, and death. Over 9,000 children have been admitted for treatment for acute malnutrition since the start of the year, highlighting the urgent need for food and medical assistance. The blockade has been described as a "silent killer," with families resorting to sharing minimal food supplies, such as a single can of beans among several members of one family according to Al Jazeera report.

Personal stories from families in Gaza illustrate the heartbreaking reality of this crisis. For instance, a mother described her five-year-old son, who has become emaciated and is suffering from severe malnutrition, stating that he hasn't eaten meat in months due to the unaffordability of food. Healthcare providers are struggling to care for malnourished children, with reports of infants and young children dying from hunger and malnutrition-related complications, reported cbc.ca.

Russo

House Minority Leader Allison Russo (D-Upper Arlington and pictured above) today released the following statement after Wednesday’s Ballot Board meeting that advanced the Citizens for Property Tax Reform’s proposed constitutional amendment to abolish property taxes in Ohio:

“I think the effort to put this forward as a constitutional ballot amendment clearly demonstrates frustration by Ohioans on this issue. When the legislature doesn’t respond, the people usually step up – often through ballot initiatives. However, this particular initiative concerns me because while it eliminates the property tax, it doesn’t explain how we’ll replace the funds that support police, fire departments, public education, and other critical services,” said Leader Russo. “Democrats have been introducing bipartisan legislation for the last couple of General Assemblies to provide direct relief, but none have been prioritized by the Republican majority. It’s beyond time to provide direct property tax relief for Ohioans.”

The Columbus Gay Men’s Chorus (“CGMC”), central Ohio’s premier TTBB vocal organization, is holding a special concert presented by its sacred ensemble, Illuminati.
Illuminati is one of the only LGBTQ+ sacred ensembles in the United States, and is presenting its annual full-length concert of sacred and spiritual music, along with songs from monthly services at houses of worship where the ensemble has been invited to perform.

Illuminati will perform their “Celestial Springs” concert on Sunday, May 18 at 2p.m. at the Lord of Life Lutheran Church, located at 2480 West Granville Road in Columbus. The concert is part of CGMC’s 35 th anniversary season. This concert is a chance for audiences to experience what Illuminati calls “Outreach” events, which occur in sacred spaces throughout central Ohio year-round. The concerts are titled specifically this way, different than “performances,” because they happen at
places of worship, often during services themselves, and present a face of the LGBTQIA+ community in a faith setting that may be different than what attendees may
expect.

LOS ANGELES (May 12, 2025) Housing advocates from AHF’s Housing Is A Human Right (HHR) division and National Coalition for the Homeless  blasted California Governor Gavin Newsom for his call earlier today on cities and towns across the state to ban homeless encampments —criminalizing many of their unhoused occupants in the process.

After two terms in office and despite allocating $24 billion in state funding to address the homeless crisis, Governor Newsom has little to nothing to show that he has meaningfully addressed homelessness in California. Worse, state officials under his watch cannot even account for how the $24 billion may have been spent.
