Kossuth Street Garden is a 15 year old community garden in a working class community of color. It won the Franklin Conservatory's 2020 Neighborhood Improvement Project of the Year award. This garden has been an educational and social space for the community.
Although the community that runs the garden had offered to buy the land, it was instead sold to developer Tracy Cohen for the same amount of money.
Now, the developer is planning on building expensive homes ranging from $250,000-$350,000. On top of contributing to gentrification, the future owners of these homes would likely receive tax abatements.
Join the Kossuth Street Garden and other community organizations on Sunday, February 14th as we build support in advance of a city council hearing and vote about the garden on the 22nd.
Bill Cohen's Annual Valentine's Concert
Sunday, February 14, 7pm, this event will be live-streamed on “Facebook Live”
Facebook Event
The ecstasy, warmth, heartache, and pain that love can bring will once again be in the spotlight, as Bill Cohen sings popular songs from the 1940’s, 50’s, 60’s, and 70’s, tunes made famous by John Denver, the Everly Brothers, Sam Cooke, James Taylor, Bing Crosby, Patti Page, Eagles, Nat King Cole, Johnny Mathis, and others.
There will be a lighter side too, with fun trivia questions about romance. Due to the virus, this year’s annual show, Bill’s twelfth, will be virtual and will be live-streamed on the “Bill Cohen Sings” Facebook page.
Use this show to create your own intimate Valentine celebration at home. Put the virtual show onto your biggest screen, turn off the lights, light some candles, snuggle up to your sweetheart or a photo of a past lover, pour some wine, put out some chocolate, and enjoy the memories and emotions these familiar songs will spark.
Admission will be free but donations will be welcomed for this May’s Central Ohio Folk Festival.
Whether or not you’re a member of Facebook, you can see and hear the show by going to the Facebook page called “Bill Cohen Sings.”
Hosted by Bill Cohen Sings.
