Over 2 million Israelis viewed and shared a video with a message that would have been unthinkable just a year ago -- if we trust Arab Israelis to save our lives in hospitals, we should trust them in the political arena as well. Shir Nosatzki, founder of "Have You Seen the Horizon Lately?", the organization responsible for the viral video, joins us for a conversation with professors Dr. Nasreen Hadad Haj-Yahya and Prof. Eran Halperin on the challenges in fostering but the urgency of pursuing Jewish-Arab political partnership.  Register here.

Early Effects of the COVID-19 Pandemic and Policy Responses on Labor Markets

COVID-19 and the policy responses have had an unprecedented effect on labor markets, brought home by the spike in unemployment insurance claims. We will discuss a range of ongoing research projects estimating the impact of COVID-19 and policy responses on the labor market.

This work quantifies the effects of early implementation of social distancing projects and the effects on different segments of the workforce (e.g. by gender, race, ethnicity, age, family structure). We will also discuss the effects on different occupations and occupations and industries, emphasizing the importance of face-to-face contact. Lastly, we will discuss efforts to apply economic models to use COVID-19 infection rates from the partial test results.
